Do you find you're attracted to voices that (could) resemble your voice? Specific to my style, I like big, loud, powerful voices. Not dramatics necessarily but voices with UMPH! What kinds of voices does everyone else like? And is it potentially similar to your voice? I don't typically like male voices except for countertenors! Quite sad since I'm a dude! LOL But it might have been a good thing. I never tried to sound like anyone else because I didn't like any male singers in classical singing. I do like them in R&B and stuff. I like Ludacris, but his voice isn't necessarily operatic! LOL Here's a small list of people I like in the classical world: Countertenor: Phillipe Jaroussky and David Hansen - I've always wanted to sing this voice type! Bigger Soprano: Leontyne Price, Jessye Norman, Birgit Nilsson, Luana DeVol (bias cuz she's one of my teachers!!!), Shirley Verrett, Joan Sutherland Smaller Soprano: Kathleen Battle, Kiri Te Kanawa, Mezzo: Marilyn Horne Tenor: Jon Vickers, Gianfranco Cecchele I didn't get into actually singing contemporary stuff until recently. I really like: Ludacris, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Michael Jackson... a bunch of people!!! I never bothered to remember anyone's name until I got older LOL One recording I really like is Leontyne Price (bigger soprano) singing rather "small"!!! Start at 1:47 if it doesn't embed. I LOVE this recording, and it's not long, so listen to its entirety if you have time!!!
